Fighting games have been
appealing to video gamers since the beginning.

Going
back to the classic Combat on the Atari 2600, zealous gamerz have never
been able to get enough of this genre. These video games continue to be
released year after year, and while great games are rewarded with
record sales, it takes more than guns and blood to make
great games. If the game play is lacking in features or
action,
gamers will vote with their wallets and skip the title.
Fighting games at gamerisms offers five titles and reviews for this
genre.
1) Super Street Fighter IV
When
discussing fighting games, the two that immediately come to mind as
standard bearers of their respective video game genres are Call of Duty
and Street
Fighter. Since we have already discussed the newest incarnation of Call
of Duty in another article about war videogames, Super Street Fighter
IV is
the obvious choice for fighting games.
Features include 3D
rendition during fights and classic game play. Some of the characters
that gamers have met with this series are Abel, Rufus, El Fuerte and
Rufus. On the Boss side along with hidden characters are Seth, Gouken
and Akuma.
There is no debate that the screens and play roster are
super hot, however the drawback is that gamers have to wait for new
releases.
2) Grand Theft Auto
At
gamerisms, we thought some of our genre classifications would be
debated, but no videogames in this genre or elsewhere at
the site
will match the wildly popular and controversial game, Grand Theft
Auto=GTA.
This series boasts at least nine separate games and counting, while
awaiting the release of a new Grand Theft Auto.
This video game combines action, racing, and violent fighting in a
definitely adult videogames theme.
The
series based on a term used to describe auto theft presents characters
whose sole purpose is to advance in the criminal underworld and they
will fight mightily to attain that goal.
This fighting video game
offers online multiplayer mode for up to 16 players. These avid gamerz
can play together choosing death match, cops 'n' crooks, deal breaker
and Mafiya.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was released in 2009 to keep gamerz
happy until
the next round of GTA.
3) Tekken 6
Another
long time contender in the fighting games genre is the Tekken
franchise. Returning for a sixth installment with slick graphics and
impressive characters, this video game will keep fans of fighting games
entertained for a long time coming.
Players can explore the Arcade,
Ghost Battles, Time Trial, Survival and Practice modes. With Ghost
Battles, you are challenged by a steady stream of new AI opponents, or
ghosts, that possess different ranks. At battle's end, you can pick
your next opponent among 3 contenders.
The game introduces new fighters, Lars and Alisa along with familiar
characters of
Bob, Leo, Miguel and Zafina. Tekken fans will not be disappointed with
the latest offering.
4) Elder Scrolls IV
This video game began as a computer series and has evolved into one of
the
best RPG action adventure, fighting games.

In
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, you not only have the main quest in
Cyrodil, but you have hundreds of side quests that are already
downloaded. Additionally, you can purchase and download more content
for these videogames.
There are guilds that you can join and perform the quests requested so
that you can rank up. Or you can walk around Cyrodil to find caverns
and other areas where you can fight it out and rank up. Oblivion is
great for those who love blunt objects, bow and arrows or swords. There
are no guns in this one, and you get to bludgeon people to death.
5) Final Fantasy:
Fighting games
Last
but not least, definitely not least, are the Final Fantasy video games.
There
are several of these out now, and they are RPG games with magic and
fighting galore. Swords are the main choice of weaponry in this game.
There are many gamerz who enjoy these videogames and have for years.
The
varied selection of Final Fantasies titles does not make the decision
for these fighting games easy.
Note: at gamerisms, both the
terms gamers and gamerz are used when referring to players.
